Someday I will get to sleep more
than 4 hours in a row. This does not include when I am sick with the flu
or food poisoning. Someday I will have a day off in which I do
nothing. These days weren't yesterday or the day before or the day before
that.
Those days were filled with Emma waking up at all hours of the night, her nose
congested and filled with adult-sized boogies. She was sick and got off
schedule, which meant I got off schedule. Email at work threw up and
caused a crisis of epic email proportions, so I went into work on my day
off. Of course I'd already been woken up by two phone calls about work,
so why not. I can function on 13 hours of sleep in 3 days. Let's
get this.
Yesterday when I picked her up from
school, she didn't see me right away, so I took the opportunity to watch her
explore the Baby Einstein exersaucer. She was so amazing, just playing with
what it had to offer. And then she looked up and saw me. The biggest grin came
across her face, she started jumping a bit and then she yelled Mama! As close
to it as she can get. I know she's muttered it before in a long string of other
jibberish and I know she's said Dada before. But this was clear and directed at
her excitement of seeing me. It. Was. Awesome. David put our precious one to bed
last night and she slept ALL NIGHT LONG. Hopefully this means she's back
in her routine and not as snotty. He also made one of my new favorite
dinners - grilled tilapia and roasted potatoes/onions/brussels sprouts. I
have developed quite the refined palate.
Emma's first Easter is coming up and Grandmommy has purchased her a new dress
and romper for the occasion, complete with shoes and tights. Kid's not
spoiled at all. She's now been eating green beans and she clearly likes
them better than peas. Who wouldn't. Last night she had some
carrots. She'll be eating beef wellington before we know it.
She's also taken to actually giggling. Her tooth is sloooooow to come in,
but it's making the slightest of slight progress. I think the one next
door is hoping to make an appearance too. This will make feeding time
even more fun. A wiggly distracted kid with teeth. Might be
switching to a bottle sooner than I hoped :)
We are having Easter lunch at our house. Mostly because it's easier than
packing up the house to go to Raleigh. Emma requires a metric ton of
stuff. And then there's Gracie. We need to buy additional
chairs. We can't fit our whole family. We have tables a plenty,
just no chairs. Easter candy is my most favorite of all holidays, but I
much much prefer Thanksgiving dinner food. I might make cupcakes. I
might not. I have to clean the house. And bathe the baby.
Maybe we should Easter in Raleigh after all... (I just made Easter into a
verb).
