Timing is everything. Since I am no longer working
swimming, I didn't have to work Easter weekend. Which meant I was home
all weekend for Emma's first Easter. We had friends over on Saturday
night, and everyone over for lunch on Sunday. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun.
Emma helped out by sleeping and eating, and did pretty good hanging out in the
jumperoo for a while. She napped on the couch and then rolled over.
Thankfully she didn't roll off the couch. Mother of the Year in the
making.
Grandmommy bought her a new smocked dress for the occasion (and tights and
shoes). I made prosciutto wrapped mozzarella as an appetizer and filled
Easter eggs with candy to decorate everyone's plate on the table. Grandpa
made his dill dip. There was ham.
And then there was the ham that Emma ate. In
preparation for the occasion, we purchased a jar of "Ham and Ham
Gravy" from the fine folks at Gerber. Not unlike the jars of green beans and sweet potatoes that
Emma eats daily. Before we all sat down to eat, David thought it best to
go ahead and feed Emma some of her first ham. Easter ham, if you
will. It smelled like Fancy Feast. So nasty and I am not
certain even Gracie would have enjoyed it. She ate some of it, but was
obviously not excited by the cat food ham we provided. Either way, she
was able to celebrate with some pork product for Easter.
Emma celebrated her 8 month birthday on Wednesday, April 3. She requested
milk for dinner and sweet potatoes for dessert. I can't believe
it's been 8 months already. I'm so proud of how far she's come, but I
totally miss my little baby. So much. Oh and I love love
love the 8 month old I have. Can't win for trying.
Her TWO teeth are coming in slowly but surely. Emphasis on slowly.
I am fine with it, as it means less chance I have of becoming a sandwich during
milk time.
She couldn't be more of a joy for us. She is absolutely the cutest thing
I've ever seen and I am in love with dressing her up.
She's getting super close to crawling, but so far just seems
more interested in rolling over. She loves our cell phones and the remote
control (she's a Daddy's girl). But she puts them in her mouth, unlike
Daddy.
Her personality is starting to show, which means she can be a bit of a
challenge from time to time. But generally, what Emma wants, Emma
gets.
Bless her heart she's so cute. And then there's the crying and the head
butting. Good times.
We are gearing up for Donald and Danielle's wedding, which should be a fun and
stressful event all at the same time. We're taking Emma along, with
hopefully a babysitter. And three days after the blessed event is our 2nd
Anniversary!!!! Very exciting day, especially since I was knocked up when
we had our first anniversary and spent it drinking Diet Dr Pepper and eating
tacos. Well, that sounds like a great day really, but this year will
definitely be much better. And much richer, with the fact that we have an
Emma to celebrate with and for.
