THE WEEK THAT NEEDED WINE AND XANAX

We have had an interesting April.  Remember that awesome house that we were so excited to move into on June 10?  Well, that's not happening.  What has happened is that the awesome house - we will call it House #1 - also came with a very difficult seller and agent.  These people not only were less than willing to negotiate on the house to begin with, but are adamant that the inspection report was fairly bogus and refused to fix some things.  The guy flipped the house quickly and did a half-ass job of it, so there are multiple items that are not as they ought to be.  We would have large out of pocket expenses off the bat.  And, the bathroom shower is the size of a telephone booth.

So, what transpired last week?  We got their report back on Thursday and the agent said (and I quote) "the seller almost had a heart attack seeing the repairs that needed to be made."  Join the club.  We thought that the house had already been inspected and repairs made.  On Thursday we also had a showing on our house.  Dad came to pick up Gracie after his breakfast outing.  We scrambled to try to find other houses to see as backup.  At this point, it was this house or living with one of our parents in June.  We picked a house in the same neighborhood that had come back on the market a little cheaper after we were locked into House #1.  This is the house we'll call House #2.  We were to visit House #2 after visiting House #1 with Dad, Janis and Dad's handymen on Saturday.

Then what happened just about sent me to Butner...  Dad calls Friday morning.  Something is wrong with Gracie, he is headed to the vet.  Panic ensued.  I ran out of the house without drying my hair or using lotion.  Long story short, my little baby girl was having balance issues and some eye tremor thing.  The vet said it was either a vestibular event or something more like a tumor.  I can count on one hand the minutes that I didn't cry that day.  Said we should watch her and hopefully it will go away on its own in a week or so.  Gave her some dramamine and knocked her out.  Was terrified all weekend about the pup.

Turns out she is getting better....praise God.  Turned out House #2 had an offer on the table on Saturday morning.  David and his mom went to look at it before the offer was submitted to the sellers.  They met the sellers and David insisted that I would want to look at the house.  I look at the house and love it.  So, we have to decide in about 3 minutes what to do as far as making an offer ourselves.  (all this while standing in House #1).  So we make an offer.  We go back and forth all weekend with upping our offer, worrying, upping it some more and texting our agent like crazy people.  Still worried about Gracie, I was real close to losing it.  And it's not like I could get some wine or xanax.  Awesome, this is not how one should live with stress.

Finally, the agent called Sunday evening.  Said we were good to go, they accepted our offer and added in a home warranty because we were so nice.  Did I mention the sellers invited Dad and I in the house later on Saturday?  They have now met the whole family.  Their own agent wrote our contract papers.  Nothing about this happened the way it's supposed to.  We signed the papers and waited on them to sign.  Of course they had multiple requests for showings on Monday and their agent was sick.  Never fear, David got on the phone and got things signed and back in our hands.

We officially have a new house to move into on June 8!!!!!!  Now just to get through our due diligence on Monday at 5 pm....

And Gracie is better....

And her Mom is much better....

And I hope the baby is ok, because all that couldn't have been good for the little one inside.... certainly wasn't for her mother.

Did I mention House #2 has jets in the bathtub????
