ILL-PREPARED

Monday, July 22, 2013

We were informed last week that Emma would be moving up to the next class at school around her 1st birthday.  Well, her birthday is right around the corner and I am quite upset at the developments surrounding this event.

For starters, I LOVE her teachers in her class right now and I want to keep them forever and ever.  Moving up a class means she is getting bigger, and that makes me sad (yet proud that she's such a big girl).  I am used to the process of her baby class.  They treat her like a queen and she has a crib with her name on it and all of that jazz.  And apparently, they aren't allowed to use bottles in her next class.  Wut?  I had no knowledge of this and therefore have not been training Sweet Cheeks on using sippy cups.  She is a leisurely drinker and likes to take her time.  These sippy cups are like a freaking milk geyser, choking her on the white caps of milk.  Needless to say, we don't have a lot of time to get this accomplished and the baby girl is quite resistant to change.

We did so much research on bottles and found the ones that Emma has thrived on, but this sippy cup thing?  I just started grabbing from the shelves.

What has happened here?  Bottles 4 life!

We also started shoving all types of food into Emma's mouth.  Some of them were received better than others.  She doesn't seem to like bran muffins (David and Gracie do, so they are on clean up).  She loves cantaloupe.

But these foods have graced her lips so far:
chicken
turkey
noodles
squash and onions
sweet potatoes
peas (real and pulverized)
carrots (real and pulverized)
green beans (real and pulverized)
banana yogurt
peach yogurt
mashed potatoes
cauliflower
mum mums
avocado
watermelon

When Emma no longer wants a food, she puckers her lips and then shakes her head.  When Emma feels the music in her while eating, she moves her head about.  She will stop dancing most of the time, if you start dancing with her.  Instead of baby steps, she tries to walk as if in marching band.  She still loves to give raspberries.  This has gotten her into time out at school on account of her using her teeth to administer said raspberries.  She bangs her toys on everything (glad we held off on the new coffee table).  When she drops a toy, she says "uh oh."  (I swear)

We are close to having to switch out her car seats.  She's not too heavy, just getting too long.  Boo :(

I can totally see why people get knocked up again when their kids are this age.

Preparations are underway for her party, and I am so excited!  I just wish she didn't have to turn ONE to have a party.  She'll be walking and talking back to us before we know it and I am just trying not to be too sleepy to enjoy where she is now.  I could use a nap.
