COURTESY NOT LOST ON US

Monday, October 7, 2013

I had the best weekend with Emma.  We went to Target and Sams and Harris Teeter twice.  We picked up breakfast for Daddy.  She couldn't have been a better kid.  Could have been the sugar cookie I pumped into her.  Could have been the love she felt from her mother.  Who really knows.  I kept picking her up and smooching on her all day Sunday.  I am sure that when she comes home from school today, she'll be all pick me up and hold me and if you don't I'll scream bloody murder.  But yesterday was great.

I handed her a sippy cup when we were in Target and I swear she said "Thank You."  The girls in front of us, who were clearly smitten with Sweet Cheeks from the start, agreed.  I totally said "Did she actually say thank you??"  They concurred and so it was.  Mental note taken and written here for posterity.

Outside of that, her go-tos are still "hey" and "uh oh."  She's also started pinching your face and arms and whatever else if she isn't happy with the status quo.  Not cool Emma.  I want to pinch her back, but then I feel like I stooped to her level.  And she's 14 months old.

I gave her a Vera Bradley purse that Mom had given me, since she seemed so into her bag at school.  This one is bigger and I think she tripped herself on it.  Oops.  Us girls all suffer for fashion.  Suck it up Em.  I need to locate her a basketball, just to keep the scales even.

She also started having temper tantrums by doing trust falls without anyone behind her.  Like she'd just fall on her back and head, wherever, whenever.  She landed on the dog once.  I tried to break her falls, but just out of nowhere.  I'm like what the fresh heck is this???  I don't know where she got this little nugget of an activity and I also don't want her concussed.  She's only 1.  Not an NFL player.

Sweet Cheeks is, however, back to being sweet and not too poopy.  Though I think 4 poops in one day is quite enough.  I could tell one day that they had raisins at school.  We should work on her chewing.  So many raisins.

She also hugged Gracie this weekend.  Chased her around laughing hysterically.  Gracie has gotten closer to Sweet Cheeks as Emma has cried less and dropped more food.  (By that I mean the dog doesn't immediately evacuate the room as if there is a tornado).  I think they're eventually going to be best friends, especially since Em has actually started placing Cheerios on the floor for the explicit purpose of feeding Gracie.  Soon, it'll be us against them.  Man to man is so much better than zone.

Love my baby, love my dog, love my husband.  Lovely.
