EMMA VS. CATERPILLAR

Friday, June 21, 2013

Occasionally during the week, I will drop by Emma's school so I can love on her and feed her.  This makes things easier for me by not having to pump as much milk for her next day at school.  But she also sometimes has a hard time getting back to her bottle in the afternoon once I've gone back to work.  Oh well, just trying to teach her some flexibility.

I went yesterday to provide lunch and she had two huge scratches on her neck/cheek areas.  I asked about them and Miss Linda said that she'd been playing on the floor with the caterpillar and must have gotten rough with them.  She had checked and no one else was on the floor with her playing and there weren't really any other hard toys down there.

I hope Emma gave more than she got, but I have a feeling my baby got the short end of the stick.  People are going to think we beat her as much as she's been coming home with scrapes and nicks lately.  Apparently these are some violent kids in her class.  Then again, I saw Emma climb on top of one of her friends' backs the other day, which led me to ask Miss Linda if baby girl was a bully.  She's obviously not, but it was kind of funny.

We are working on her sleep.  I haven't taken many pictures lately.  Bad mom.  I am tired, she is tired, and David is tired.  Gracie sleeps more than anyone in the house.  We are also working on her eating - she has a limited diet and doesn't appear to like bananas.  Who doesn't like a banana?  Emma.  She's not into finger foods.  She sends them sailing onto the floor, or smashes them with brute force, or sits on them.  Gracie has gained weight.

She is becoming a toothed kid.  I miss my baby with the no teeth.  It was comfortable and made me happy that she was a baby.

David and I went to the Chappelle show last night.  It was good.  Raunchy.  But funny.  I'm not sure it was $65 per ticket funny, but we never go out and it was nice to have some time to ourselves to laugh and have a drink.  I think we need it for our sanity.

Funny how the weeks go by faster when I sleep less.  I don't think that's how it should work, but it does seem like time is flying by.  I'll be on medicare before I know it.

On our way to Raleigh last night, there was some traffic...and I told David that I wouldn't be able to live in Atlanta.  (cause that's not at all relevant to what we were even talking about at the time).  I told him I'd just be pissed off at traffic.  All day, every day.  And then my life would be filled with....?  Anger, I'd just be angry all the time.  And that's no way to live.  As it is, I get my road rage in spurts at Whole Foods and on two lane roads.  Got to keep things lively.

Emma is getting big and enjoying her adult crawling.  She can really move that lil body of hers.  She's in the kitchen before you can turn around and then you're all like "Oh, crap, how'd you get here?".  Things are getting scary at home.  She jumped on Gracie the other day.  We're in for a treat!
